Gouveia Vineyards & Friends

This past Labor Day weekend Jesse and I had two of his pals from the Marine Corps come to CT and stay a while. Derek came from DC and Travis came in from Pennsylvania. It was so nice to see farmiliar faces and to host them. The weekend was filled with so much laughter and political banter. One of the days when they were here we visited a local vineyard. (Note: if you come and visit us, Jesse and I will take you there, it was such a relaxing day with beautiful views and yummy wine.)

This place was such a gem to find. In the middle of no where Connecticut a man named Joe and his wife named Lucy began this vineyard. Joe gives the tours of the vineyard and has such an amazing story to tell. "Growing up in a Portuguese village, Joe Gouveia learned the importance of being a proactive member of society and the love of belonging to a community. Throughout his time in America, he notices the enjoyment of work and the value of community were diminishing. He wanted to bring the value of a village to America, which inspire the idea of Gouveia Vineyards."

'Everyone comes into your life for a reason and to share a lesson. Take a moment and talk to a person who is in the shadows of the lime light because every person has his own story.'
. . . . . . . . . . .

Below are some pictures from the day...

BEAUTY every which way you looked.

Jesse and I

When you visit the vineyard they offer free tours of grounds and the cellar! The tours are given by the founder and owner of the vineyards, I though that was a very nice touch.

More of the vines.
The vineyard offers a wine tasting for $8. You get to sample 5 different wines and get a complementary wine glass. Now thats a gosh-darn-deal!

Jesse being creative with his photo taking. Travis, myself, and Derek.

So, if this lovely view isnt reason enough to come visit us, then I do not know what is!
